Unbounding [sic] Prometheus

December 1, 2023
Presented by CultureHub

A session of theatrical exploration revisiting Prometheus Bound, a performance piece based on Aeschylus’ text developed and presented by Aravind Enrique Adyanthaya from 2001 on. Notions and practices of “poor“ quotidian technologies dealing with written language, multitasking spectatorship, and activation of archival material converge as the body of the writer/performer adapts to communicate through conditions of sickness and disability.

The first part of the session focuses on Prometheus’ encounter with the demons Might and Violence at the beginning of the tragedy.  A second part references the tortuous wanderings of Io, the cow maiden, reflected on physical and language ambulations. A final exercise engages in the interweaving of different texts and the generation of narratives.

This project is created by CultureHub Resident Artist Aravind Enrique Adyanthaya with Casa Cruz de la Luna Theatre collaborators Alejandra Maldonado, Christopher Cancel and Dolores Aponte Ramos.

Unbounding [sic] Prometheus was developed in the CultureHub Residency Program.
