Joseph Brock is a Brooklyn-based artist interested in how people navigate within and between inner/personal and outer worlds. He began with the double bass; in truth he never meant to. A lucky short nap during intro to the strings in elementary school and the bass was all that was left. Now, using sound, video, and other means, he explores how we relate to each other and navigate a world fraught with danger. He aims to provide room for, and at some points, force internal discourse. How do we sort internal desire, wants, and needs on a personal level, with our kith, and finally on a social level?

Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run Run - I initially started conceptualizing Nikeloops in an attempt to understand personal and work related patterns in my life and how these related to our shared human experience. The work sets up an environmental situation for the viewer to experience mechanics of patterns and loops, survival, and the search for escape. The work isn’t meant to offer the way, just pose questions.
